These two images appear to be identical. They
both have the same pixel count – 2,304 × 3,556. The
rst image has a le size of 6.54 MB and a compres-
sion of 3.58:1. The second image has a le size of
173 kB (.17MB) with a compression of 38:1. Look-
ing at them compared we can’t see a difference.
However, if we take a closer look:

We can easily see that the highly compressed
image has signicant image artifacts in it. Where
there are subtle gradations (and a lot of noise) in
