lter results in the attenuation of visible light
while passing infrared unattenuated, and the
results can be catastrophic. The net effect of this
older lter is that red photosites are inundated
with infrared light while receiving less visible red
light. Similarly green and blue photosites color
lters are also somewhat transparent to infrared
light, and because they assume that the only light
they can receive is of the color of their individual
lter, they process infrared as if it was green or
blue light. This skews color reproduction and
results in pink, washed out pictures if a heavy
