9.2 General features of superconductors
Superconductors show many features. We could study these features one by one as shown below:
1. Persistent current: The electrical current in a superconductor, in superconducting state remains for a very long time. This can be proved by placing a superconducting loop of material in magnetic field and lowering its temperature to below its superconducting transition temperature (TC) and the magnetic field is removed. This causes dc current in the superconductor loop and the current remains for a very long period without attenuation.
