Sniffing

Exposing vulnerabilities in our internet router gives a cyber criminal the opportunity to set up a sniffer that sits between our router and edge device. The following diagram is an illustration of sniffing in a network:

In this setup, the sniffer interrupts the network at a place that gives them direct access to messages before they are sent out over the internet.
