5G represents the latest in cellular network technology. For IoT solutions, it incorporates frequencies as high 95 GHz (the EHF frequency band). Transmission is divided up among small cell towers using multiple antennas. Due to the fact that small wavelengths have shorter ranges than larger wavelengths (lower frequencies) a method called beamforming is incorporated into 5G, as shown in the following diagram:
