Installing the Raspbian Stretch operating system
At the time of writing this book, Raspbian Buster is the name given to the latest Raspberry Pi operating system. Buster is based on the Debian 10 Buster, first released on June 24, 2019. Unfortunately for our purposes, Buster broke a few dependencies needed to install Azure IoT Edge. As a result, we are forced to use the version prior to Buster, called Stretch. Stretch was first released in 2017 and is based on Debian 9 Stretch.
As Raspbian is based on the Debian operating system, it takes its version names from Debian as well. A keen observer familiar with Pixar movies would recognize that Debian version names are derived from the characters of the Toy Story movie franchise. The first version ...
