If you frequently type symbols that are not usually available via the main keyboard, such as Emoji (see Tip 382, Use Full-Color Emoticons), this is a tip for you.
It makes use of the OS X pop-up diacritical characters menu that appears when you press and hold certain keys (see Tip 114, Type Symbols and Diacritical Characters) to create a personalized selection of symbols you can easily select—see Figure 12, Creating a personalized pop-out symbol selection for an example.
