| Tip 380 | Add Finder to Launchpad |
If you’re a fan of Launchpad, you might notice a strange omission—you can’t open a Finder window from within Launchpad. There’s no Finder icon.
The solution is simple. Open a Finder window using the Dock icon, hit Shift+Command+G, and type /System/Library/CoreServices. Then look for a file called Finder (it’ll have the same icon as the Dock’s Finder icon), and drag and drop it on top of the Launchpad icon in the Dock.
Activate Launchpad, and, hey, presto—you now have a Finder icon! It will probably be at the bottom of the first page of app listings or perhaps on the last page of the Launchpad app listing. You can move it to the first page by clicking and dragging it to the left edge of the screen.
