Placing Folders on the Dock

Another way to get one-click access to a folder is to store the folder on the right side of the Dock. When folders appear on the Dock, the folders are called a stack.

Here's how to place a folder on the Dock to create a stack:

  1. Click the Finder icon on the Dock. A Finder window appears.

  2. Open the folder that contains the folder that you want to place on the Dock.

  3. Drag the folder over the right side of the Dock near the Trash icon. Wait until any existing stacks on the Dock slide apart to make room.

  4. Release the left mouse button to add the stack to the Dock.

Clicking the stack icon displays the contents of that folder. You can choose how to display the contents of a stack in one of three ways, as shown in Figure 13-7:
