Chapter 43. Setting Up an Email Account

One of the most popular uses for the Internet is email, with which you can send and receive messages from people all over the world, absolutely free. When you pay for Internet access through an Internet service provider (ISP), you'll get an email account, which lets you send and receive email.

Many email accounts let you read and write messages through any web browser, such as Safari. However, you can also use a special email program to retrieve, read, and compose your email messages. To help you use email, every Macintosh comes with a free email program called Mail.
