Plugging an Ethernet cable into your Macintosh is the old-fashioned way of connecting to the Internet. If you don't like the idea of stringing Ethernet cables all over the floor, or if you're constantly on the move, you'll probably prefer to connect to a wireless or WiFi Internet connection instead. A WiFi connection essentially replaces a physical Ethernet cable with a radio signal between a WiFi router and your computer.
Many public wireless connections are open to anyone. However, for security reasons, many other wireless Internet connections require a password before you can connect to them. To connect to a wireless Internet connection, do this:
