Every Macintosh comes with a copy of the QuickTime player, which is meant to play QuickTime, MPEG, AVI, and many other types of video file formats, but not Windows Media files. To watch video stored in the Windows Media format, you have two choices: You can download and install a free program called Flip4Mac, or you can download and install an old version of Windows Media Player for Mac.
To make the QuickTime Player play Windows Media files, you need to download and install Flip4Mac, shown in Figure 40-2.
