Ripping Songs from a CD

After you've defined the type of digital audio file format to use and the audio quality you want, you can start ripping your songs. When you rip a song from an audio CD with iTunes, your song is imported, or stored as a digital audio file in the iTunes library folder. Later, you can use iTunes to play your songs on your Mac.

Here's how to rip your favorite songs:

  1. Insert an audio CD into your Macintosh. The iTunes program should load and may display a dialog asking if you want to import all the songs of the entire CD into your iTunes library.

  2. Click No if you don't want to rip all of your songs. Click Yes if you want to import all the songs on the audio CD. (If you're connected to the Internet, iTunes should identify the song ...
