If you want to create an e-book for the iPad, packed with such innovative elements as video clips and heavily designed pages, the iBooks Author application can be just what you need. But if you’re writing a novel or a nonfiction e-book that consists mainly of text (with perhaps a few images), the app has more bells and whistles than you need and may overcomplicate things for you.
This chapter walks you through the process of installing iBooks Author on your Mac computer. (To use the app, you need OS X 10.7.2 or later. It isn’t available for Windows.)
