Advertising on Blogs and E-Mail Lists
If you’re short on time, a quick(ish) way to promote your e-book is to pay for advertising. Rather than spend hours writing guest posts and being interviewed, you can simply hand over money and the details about your e-book — and reach a large audience.
Along with the rapid growth of e-books has been a surge in websites and e-mail lists aimed at readers of those e-books. A site or mailing list may have an audience that runs to the tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands, of people — a helpful way to get your e-book noticed and bought. Two popular advertising sites for e-books are Kindle Nation Daily (www.kindlenation daily.com
) and The Kindle Book Review (www.thekindlebookreview.blogspot.com
). As is obvious from their names, your e-book needs to be available on the Kindle in order for you to advertise it on those sites. Goodreads (described in Chapter 17) also offers paid advertising.
Preparing your e-book before buying advertising
If early readers have pointed out problems with your e-book, such as a formatting error or a few typos, you’ll want to correct them before buying advertising. Your first few readers likely already knew you, so they’ll have been happy to overlook any minor flaws in your e-book. The hordes of strangers who (you hope!) buy your e-book after reading an ad won’t be as forgiving.
