After you’ve finished writing the first draft of your e-book, give yourself a well-deserved break. Put aside your manuscript for a week or two, and focus on activities that you neglected while writing — dining out with your significant other or catching up on a favorite TV series, for example. (Or, if you’re like me, rediscover the carpet under all the debris in your house.)

Breaking briefly from your writing duties is a helpful way to gain perspective. Many writers find that immediately after completing their first drafts, they simply can’t see how and where they might make changes, or they feel tired and dispirited about having to spend even more time on their books. When you’re ready to edit, follow the tips in this chapter to help you make efficient progress.
