Encouraging People to Like Your Facebook Page
After your e-book’s Facebook page is set up, try to acquire its first few Likes quickly so that potential new readers aren’t put off by seeing that only a few people in the world like your page (or by seeing the vision of tumbleweeds blowing across the page).
The best way for your e-book to score its first few Likes is for you to call on family and friends. Asking them to click the Like button isn’t asking much — even if they aren’t especially interested in your e-book or your business. Post a link in your Facebook profile to your Facebook page, and encourage people to click the Like button — and don’t forget to Like your own page.
After a few people (perhaps a dozen or two) Like your e-book’s page, you can share your Facebook page more widely. If you have a website, add a Like button there, too. To do so on a WordPress site, go to http://developers.
facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like, and fill in the form to create, view and copy the code for your Like button. (See Chapter 9 for more on WordPress.)
