Two Personal Examples
BEFORE WE DELVE INTO exactly what it takes to create a consis-
tent brand experience for the consumer, let me demonstrate, in
detail, how the experience effect plays out with two personal exam-
ples about my own interactions with J.Crew and Starbucks.
J.Crew is the comfortable, contemporary brand of preppy
clothes featured in a range of wearable styles, bold colors, and geo-
metric patterns. The J.Crew catalogs are filled with thin, young
models who look amazingly comfortable in fitted, well-coordinated
