OS/2

Like many other OSs, OS/2 has led a varied past. Originally a joint IBM/Microsoft project, OS/2 is now available only from IBM. OS/2 has a reputation as the OS that would not die—despite frequent proclamations of its imminent demise by its detractors, OS/2 has continued to be available, and it has a dedicated user base. Of the other OSs discussed in this chapter, OS/2 is most like Windows NT in capabilities, though many of the details differ.
