Commercial Versions of UNIX

The hype in the UNIX world these days goes to Linux, and to a lesser extent the free BSD variants, particularly FreeBSD. The UNIX world is much larger than these OSs, though. In fact, technically speaking, neither Linux nor the free BSD variants is a version of UNIX because UNIX is a trademarked term that can be applied only to products that have passed a suite of tests. These tests are expensive, and most Linux and BSD users aren't particularly concerned with the label, so neither class of system has been tested.
