Connectivity is paramount in IIoT systems for both OT systems and IT systems. The critical nature of IIoT systems also requires reliability and availability. Availability is a key feature or a reliable system.

Hosted or cloud services offer flexibility and can provide temporary or long-term capacity for IT resources. Cloud computing enables PoC development without requiring a large capital and services investment, and without requiring specialized skills to deploy and maintain the service and regardless of how the components are physically connected. Computing platforms, databases, analytic capabilities, business systems, and IOT platforms are available as cloud solutions.
