Early consumer IoT items appearing in homes often included thermostats from companies such as Nest (Alphabet), Emerson, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, and others. Environmental controls remain a major IIoT development area as these companies embed sensors and smart devices into heating and cooling units, refrigeration, and other products that have large energy needs.
