With a readjusted scale, the graph appears the same. Another interest-

ing feature of the power law approach is the curve will become a straight

line if it is plotted on a logarithmic scale. In plain English, the curve we

saw in the above examples is what we see when we use a scale where each

unit on the le axis is of an equal value, such as the 10 million incidents

used in the above examples. When the scale instead increases by one order

of magnitude, or one power of ten, then the curve becomes a straight line

(Figure6.19).
