COUNTERACTING MEASURES
Most RIP implementations have implemented measures to counteract the count to infinity problem. One change simply eliminates the 30-second timer, and when a router has a routing update to send, it sends it immediately. Of course, this immediate update does not solve the problem, but it does speed up the time to reach convergence.
Split Horizon
Another method is called split horizon. The idea behind this operation is based on the commonsense notion that it makes no sense for a router to advertise addresses though the interface from which it received the initial advertisement.
