Using Figure 9-12, we can now see how PNNI operates.
Feeding information up the hierarchy:
The logical group node represents the entire underlying peer group. For example, A.4 represents A.4.1 through A.4.6.
A.4 receives complete topology state information from all these nodes, principally dealing with topology aggregation and reachability.
Feeding information down the hierarchy:
Each logical group node (say A.4) feeds information down to its underlying peer group.
This information allows nodes (A.4.1 through A.4.6) in the lower peer groups to reach all destinations in the PNNI routing domain.
