ATTRIBUTES OF OSPF
OSPF protocol is an IGP. The OSPF routers are within one autonomous system. OSPF is a link state, or shortest path first protocol, in contrast to some of the earlier Internet protocols which are based on some type of Bellman-Ford approach. The protocol is tailored specifically for an internet and includes such capabilities as subnet addressing and type of service (TOS) routing.[1]
[1] TOS routing is not deployed extensively in the Internet, although it was intended in the original specifications that it be an important aspect of OSPF. Check your installation for possible TOS support.
