Punishing the target

Another dark way of using manipulation is to non-physically punish people. This is done by making a target feel guilty, humiliated, or anxious. The end result is that the target is willing to comply with any request that will get him or her out of that position. Also, the target will be thankful for someone that helps get him or her out of that position. A social engineer might create a scenario where he or she calls out for help from a target. If the target refuses to give help, a partner in the social engineering attack might come out to help and embarrass the target for not being human enough to help.
