Flattering
It might seem like an obvious technique that may have very little success but, in reality, it works like a charm. People naturally want to be acknowledged for their achievements but they do not want to brag about themselves since bragging is generally looked down upon. When a target is flattered, he or she will receive the compliment but at times try to downplay it. At this point, the target is vulnerable to divulging some information about what it is that he or she has been complimented on.
