Being a good listener
It is not unusual for humans to reveal their feelings and confide their secrets to other people, even total strangers. There is some relief that comes out when someone shares some troubling information. There are many people withholding things and all they need is a listening ear. These people visit frequent places such as bars and also churches where they hope to temporarily relieve their worries. Social engineers know this and that is why they will be waiting in such places.
