The introduction of Windows PowerShell as a SharePoint management and administration tool gives SharePoint administrators unprecedented control over their farms. When familiar with the concepts of PowerShell, administrators can automate processes that previously took large amounts of time or required clunky tools and procedures.

SharePoint 2010 administrators need to have at least a basic knowledge of PowerShell to properly maintain and administrate SharePoint 2010, so it is subsequently critical that they learn how to leverage the tool.
