When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
RBS Versus EBS
As mentioned, EBS was an earlier attempt by Microsoft in SharePoint 2007 SP1 to help customers externalize their BLOBs. However, EBS was hard to implement and had some limitations. Microsoft introduced EBS as an immediate help, and it was designed in a way that it is an evolutionary approach in that administrators can move to RBS later. EBS will continue to be supported for SharePoint 2010, but it is on the deprecation list, which means its support will end in a future release of SharePoint. Microsoft recommends using RBS in SharePoint 2010 not only because EBS is on the deprecation list but also because RBS is more powerful and maintainable. Table 9.1 illustrates some of the advantages of RBS over EBS.
