A
lthough the last three chapters have plumbed the depths of Entourage’s pri-
mary modules, this vast program has even more power up its software sleeve.
This chapter shows you a few more ways to harness the program’s seething
mass of muscle, including:
Searching. How to find a particular scrap of information in the Entourage hay-
stack of events, messages, and contacts.
Linking. How to link bits of data to each other, forming a useful web of inter-
related events.
Customizing. How to play with the program’s views and preferences, the better
to tailor the program to your liking.
Palm Synchronization
This would also be the chapter, by the way, where you’d read about Entourage’s
remarkable capability to synchronize the information in its Categories, Address Book,
Notes, Calendar, and Task modules with the corresponding programs on Palm
organizers (or compatibles from Sony, Handspring, and so on). Imagine the conve-
nience of carrying the Mac-based details of your life around in your pocket! Unfor-
tunately, as this book goes to press, that’s not yet possible in Entourage X.
The problem isn’t making the Mac sync with a Palm—it’s making Microsoft sync
with Palm Computing. The latter didn’t finish the Mac OS X version of its synchro-
nization software in time for Microsoft to include it in the original release of Office
X—or even the June 2002 update to Office ...
