Configuring Machines
As explained in Chapter 2, you'll need to create a machine definition if you want the Node Manager to start remote Managed Servers. In addition, the concept of a machine helps WebLogic Server determine the best servers in a cluster to handle various domain-wide tasks. You must configure machines for each server where you're running a Node Manager process. Chapter 2 also showed you how to create a machine definition in the Configuration Wizard, in which you select the Machine tab (Windows) and click Add to add a machine definition.
