Managing Server Work Overload

When a long-running request or faulty application logic blocks execute threads for long periods, new requests could queue up in the server's single self-tuning execute queue. Even if the server starts catching up with the queued requests, you could see degradation in performance and you'll notice a slowdown in the response times of the applications. When a WebLogic Server instance is overloaded, as happens when the server reaches its capacity, applications won't perform properly. Under extreme circumstances the server might even seem totally unresponsive because of the high number of blocked execute threads.
