Thread Management
In previous releases of WebLogic Server, the server had a much more static notion of thread scheduling than does the current release. It required the user to define separate pools of threads that were defined when the server was configured. Tuning the correct sizes of these thread pools was a time consuming matter of trial and error. In WebLogic Server releases 9.0 and above, there was only a single, dynamically sized pool of threads. The new “self-tuning” Work Manager in the current release should greatly simplify the effort that it takes to get to the proper number of threads.
