Consolidate the latest improvements

Whatever the perceived level of success, the completion of a performance improvement project will normally mean that the function concerned is very unlikely to be considered a prime target for outsourcing in the short term. However, a number of enlightened organizations have taken the opposite view. Their reasoning is as follows.

  • What we have just achieved is the best we can do. Therefore it is the right time to consider outsourcing, as we know what it costs us to provide a given level of service now.

  • By outsourcing now we will not be giving the service provider easy savings.
