Case in Point
Each member of the performance improvement team was anxiously
awaiting the stage in the project when they would be able to decide
on solutions. For example, Stan from the accounting division was
interested in implementing a new mentoring program throughout
several divisions. At first, he believed that mentoring programs could
resolve many of the company’s problems, but after the performance
analysis of each objective, he realized that mentoring was appropri-
ate for only two objectives (with competence and motivation being
