Continual Improvement
Do not expect results at every level right away. Many individual or
team results must be accomplished before organizations can
achieve their performance objectives. Societal results rely on the
contributions of many organizations. As a consequence, perform-
ance is often improved only incrementally.
The challenge is to set incremental milestones that offer the
opportunity to demonstrate meaningful results without driving the
activities to either the pace of the tortoise or the hare. Defining
incremental improvements that are minor will lead to performance
technology projects that never end. Likewise, those that are too
significant can place a performance improvement initiative on a
