Document Profile and Color Mode

As you begin a new Illustrator file, you’re prompted to choose a New Document Profile as a starting point (Figure 10.1). You can choose from Print, Web, Mobile and Devices, Video and Film, Basic CMYK, and Basic RGB. Each profile has presets for such attributes as dimensions, color mode, measurement units, and Raster Effects resolution. You can also base a new document on one of Illustrator’s supplied templates, which contain more “furniture” (such as swatches, artboards, brushes, and artwork) than a simple document profile.
