When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Reducing File Size
InDesign files are fluffy by nature. Even a simple file is larger on disk than an equivalent QuarkXPress file; it’s just a fact of life. But you can economize a bit by performing a File > Save As at the end of the job. When you just choose File > Save, InDesign appends any new data to the existing file on disk. It’s faster than rewriting the entire contents of the file, but it results in a larger file size. However, when you choose File > Save As, InDesign completely rewrites the file and does a bit of housecleaning. As a result, you should see a reduction in file size, especially in a document with a lot of large graphics. For example, the file for this chapter had ballooned to 13.4 MB.
