…Rulers, Grids, and Page Breaks

Rulers appear at the top and left of the drawing document workspace. The strength to having rulers in Visio drawing documents is the capability to measure distance and match the units selected in the scale of the drawing. In the drawing document itself, is a non-printing grid. The grid is a page of horizontal and vertical lines that assist you in placing and aligning objects.

The scale of the drawing is dependent upon the template and stencils you base your drawing document from, or what you decide to change it to in the Page Setup dialog. You can also control the number of tick marks on the ruler, the location of the ruler, and page zero points. Figure 4.6 shows the drawing page rulers and grid.
