Embedding Shapes into Other Word and Excel Documents

Embedding Visio shapes into Office documents can be applied through several methods: using Cut, Copy, and Paste, using the Insert Object technique commonly found within most Insert menus, or the drag-and-drop technique.

Cut, Copy, and Paste Technique

To embed an existing shape or grouping of shapes into a Word document using Cut, Copy, and Paste, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure both your Word and Visio documents are open.

  2. From Visio, select the shape or shape group you are interested in by clicking it.

  3. From the Edit menu, select the Copy command. The shapes are copied to the Windows Clipboard.

  4. From Visio, click the Paste command from the Edit menu to place the copied data. When the data is copied, ...
