Aligning Shapes

Arranging shapes is a fast and useful technique to align and distribute shapes automatically. These functions alleviate the need of a steady mouse movement and margin for error. Aligning shapes can move two or more shapes to the first shape selected.

To top align shapes, follow these steps:

  1. Select the shape you want to align the remaining shapes to.

  2. Select the remaining shape or shapes. The shift key must be down when selecting the remaining shape(s).

  3. From the Shape menu, click the Align Shapes command. The Align Shapes dialog box appears as in Figure 9.3.

  4. You can select to align Up and Down or Left and Right by clicking the designated buttons.

  5. Click OK to accept your choices and align your shapes.
