Adding and Editing Text for an Existing Shape

Most SmartShapes and simple shapes can contain text within them. Text can be placed either inside the shapes, or adjacent to them with the text tool. Text can also be formatted in a word processor such as Microsoft Word.

To add or edit text in a shape, follow these steps:

  1. Double-click a shape to open its text box.

  2. A cursor waits for your entry or edit of existing text. Type to add or edit text.

  3. Click outside the shape's borders to accept your text changes.

  4. Click the shape again to select it.

  5. Select the text box, and then from the Format menu, click the Text command to display the Text dialog box as in Figure 7.1.

  6. Make any text attribute modification, and click OK to accept them.
