About Grouping Shapes

A group of multiple shapes, such as text boxes, lines, connectors, and shapes, can act as one entity. This entity in turn can be easily moved or formatted together, instead of moving, resizing, or modifying shape attributes one at a time.

Grouping selected objects is a straightforward process. You can group, ungroup, add shapes to an existing group, remove shapes from a group, and convert non-Visio shapes from the Windows Metafile (.wmf) format to a group.
