So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Before You Get Started
Instead of truly importing a file, After Effects makes a reference to where the file lives on your computer. This allows users to keep their project files small, which is easier for sharing and backup. Because of this feature, it’s crucial that your assets live in a dependable, consistent spot in your computer, and ideally stay there for the duration of your project.
Organizing Your Files
It’s best to keep a regular file structure for all your projects. You may want to create a template folder structure that you copy for each project before you begin editing. It could look something like this:
