Set Up the Project

You know the drill.

  • Fire up a new After Effects project, either by clicking New Project from the splash screen, or with File > New Project.
  • Save this project into Lesson 4 > 05_Project, naming it Lesson 4.
  • Import Beemo.jpeg.
  • Import Computer_Layers.psd. Make sure you import as a Composition - Retain Layer Sizes.

Warning: Import the JPEG and PSD files separately. Importing more than one still at a time defaults to importing them as footage instead of a composition.

Let’s now drag Beemo.jpeg into its own composition.

  • Drag Beemo.jpeg onto the Create New Composition icon at the bottom of the Project panel.
