I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
4 Shapes, Masks & Mattes
Shape layers are powerful tools that let you easily build assets, such as graphics and even characters, all within After Effects. This grants you total control over the look and animation of a graphic. And there’s a lot these layers can do.
Masks are a means of cropping out parts of an image. Mattes use a layer to define the transparency of another layer.
Furthermore, this section will explore the Modes section of the timeline, with several other ways of setting transparency, plus Blend Modes.
