8.3.3 RSM
The idea of RSM began in the early 1930s but was nally well established in 1951 by
the work of Box and Wilson [38]. RSM is dened as a collection of statistical design
and numerical optimization techniques for empirical model building and model
exploitation used to optimize processes and product design [39,40]. For example, a
chemical engineer wishes to nd the levels of temperature (x
1
) and pressure (x
2
) that
maximize the yield (Y) of a process. The process yield is a function of the levels of
temperature and pressure:

I wanted to learn C and C++, but it didn't click for me until I picked up an O'Reilly book. When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.

I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.
