41115.5 Large-scale manufacture of particulate-based proliposomes

Depending on preparation conditions, liposomes generated from solvent-based

proliposomes have been demonstrated to be OLVs [49], MLVs [64], a mixture of

MLVs and OLVs [65,66], or, under static conditions, LUVs with the occasional pres-

ence of MLVs [67].

Liposomes generated from ethanol-based proliposomes provide very high entrap-

ment of hydrophilic materials, which ranged between approximately 65% and 80%

depending on phospholipid composition [49] and from approximately 30% to 85%

depending on hydration procedure [64]. Different materials may have different

entrapment efciencies ...
